About this Interview

Cushing Dolbeare and her husband Louis talk about Mrs. Dolbeare's work with the Philadelphia Housing Association. This is a continuation of the oral history dictated by Mrs. Dolbeare to Walter Massey Phillips on June fifth of the same year. She begins by discussing the general relationship between the association and various departments in city hall, namely the Department of Licenses and Inspections. She also talks in detail about several issues, budgetary and otherwise, faced by the association under different administrations.

Biographical / Historical Note

Walter M. Phillips, Sr. (1912-1985) was active in Philadelphia civic and political life for over thirty years. He worked and volunteered in a variety of city and regional organizations. After retiring, Phillips initiated an oral history project, interviewing in the 1970s many individuals with whom he had worked.
