About this Interview
Murray Shusterman served for 11 years on the City Solicitor's staff. He had been with the Bureau of Municipal Research from 1936-1942. He was active in the city charter movement of 1937 and was one of the authors of that city charter, He has been very active in numerous civic affairs. For this oral history he recounts his memory of the events that transpired in his time with each organization.
Biographical / Historical Note
Walter M. Phillips, Sr. (1912-1985) was active in Philadelphia civic and political life for over thirty years. He worked and volunteered in a variety of city and regional organizations. After retiring, Phillips initiated an oral history project, interviewing in the 1970s many individuals with whom he had worked.
